ARTIST BIO

“Medals are earned from blood, sweat, and tears,

To conquer the world, you must face your fears,

Early to rise and late to sleep,

Dreams come true as you sow what you reap.”

When one truly figures out where they belong in this world, it is something to hold onto, as tightly as one can, and a sign to continue marching on in the direction that that light leads. As a Chinese-American, Yi Ming Sofyia Xue has had the privilege of being raised in both vastly different cultures and so the music and art she creates will be centered on mending the gaps that politics and economics have caused between these two countries and cultures. She continues to do what she does as a performer, not only for her own personal enjoyment, but also for the bigger picture: striving to be a bridge that will better connect these two international music and entertainment markets and to once again prove that music and art are their own languages and know no boundaries.
Yi Ming has performed for most of her life and began with dance and martial arts based Chinese Opera before she ever started training in voice. She feels extremely privileged to have been invited to attend and perform a selection of a Chinese Opera piece at the 2011 “Opera Ball” at the Chinese-US Embassy in Washington D.C., with the attendance and audience of world-renowned tenor, Mr. Placido Domingo. Yi Ming has since performed all throughout the Northeastern Coast of America, at different universities and occasions to showcase her Chinese heritage through the art form of Chinese Opera. Ever since she was 12 years old, she also became an avid vocal competitor of different singing competitions in and around the tri-state area, as well as internationally for different competitions and tv survival show pre-qualifiers. In 2017, Yi Ming was elated to have won New York/China based tv channel, Sinovision’s, “Teen Talent Show” in the singing category. Honing in to Beijing’s “Water Cube International Chinese Singing Competition,” in 2018, she represented New York to go to the Water Cube Olympic Stadium and received an honorable Bronze prize. In fall of 2020, as a result of the global Covid-19 pandemic, she began putting cover videos and collaboration videos on China’s BiliBili platform. By May of 2021, she has gained a total of 18K fans on the platform, with the highest single video view count of 265K.
Yi Ming has been consistently and actively looking for opportunities to perform and do what she does best. After one of her cover mashup videos was seen by a director in China, the director and his producers of their most recent tv serial asked her to sing the theme song of the drama, which will be airing in the fall of 2021. This is Yi Ming’s first official song released for a tv show and both the director and herself are excited for future collaborations.

MISSION

闪亮的青春,就是现在!让我们一起去追梦想吧!
Music makes the world go 'round.

As an artist, vocalist, and entertainer of the new generation, Yi Ming Sofyia Xue strives to match the term with the work she will do for the new era of music and entertainment industries of Asia and the Americas. She holds a bold claim to her name in hopes of one day being able to truly further the bridge between these two countries and cultures that she calls her home. Being Chinese-American, she is well-versed in both Chinese (Mandarin) and English and had the privilege of being raised in both vastly different cultures to adapt herself and incorporate both parts into her life and as well as in her artistry. Her perseverance and determination to profoundly make an impact in both industries as well as collaborating and leading a bridge that will better connect these two international markets is her life’s mission.
